Bathing corset is finished! I really like this one. I wish I had thought to make it a bit prettier and not so practical.... than again it is for swimming/wading in the water.... It super comfy also. And picture proof. Crappy photo and that is not the ribbon I plan to use but I wanted to show it off. I need to get better pictures and show you guys the back. I haven't mastered the behind my back mirror photos yet.

I am doing a bit better now. Poor Little Man has been soaked by tears, (kitty fur soaks them up real nice like,) a few times today. Thankfully he's been a good sport about it and just let me grab him, and cry.

I made the trip out to Jo-anns and got some cording that would work for the lacing. Forgive my hair and the mirror and hubby pics. I promise to take better ones once the combinations are complete.

After my husband finished lacing me in he made the comment that it was the best one I have made. Which threw me off because I normally have to ask him his opinion on something and then I swear he doesn't even look at it...
The only thing I can see is maybe need a thicker boning or more of it right at the lacing holes. Any other suggestions?

squeee!
I finished my corset. I need to find my pacing cord or buy new ones before we get any new pictures.
Not bad I think. I staRted on the 9th and waited 9 days on the hardware to arrive.

9 grommets in. I think I smashed my thumb 4 times out of the 9.

I was able to complete the 6 boning channels that I got cut out last night. My goal before I can go to sleep tonight is to get the last 6 cut out and the back facing. Then I can finish those tomorrow and be able to work on hand stitching over the weekend. Which is a good thing because we are heading towards San Diego for the weekend.

4 more boning channels done. These were single bone channels so they were smaller.  I think I steamed my fingers more than I did the fabric. Ouchie!
I also cut out 6 more channels. When I finish those I will be on the last/back panel!
I probably could of gotten more done but I was to busy on the internet. I was trying to find a good halter top pattern. Not a quick and easy gather top with a ribbon around the neck halter but something tailored looking....no luck..... also no luck with stockings that would be appropriate for the teens. That was a frustrating waste of an hour or so. Maybe tomorrow my google-fu will be back.

I am determined to keep up with this like I said I would. Today I sewed in the other side of the busk and attached the waist tape on that side. I got as far as cutting out the first pair of boning channels, (one for each side,) and ironing them before I had to start getting ready for bed.
The fabric for the combinations came today. It's already been washed. Just needs a good ironing.
The Astorias have been sent back. Hopefully it won't be to long before the bigger size arrives.

I have decided I have to sew or do SOMETHING costume related everyday till costume college otherwise I won't get everything I want to get done, done. To help me stay accountable I will also post here everyday. So if you don't see a post. Yell at me!
For today I sewed in the hook side of the busk and the waist tape. It's not a whole lot but that's why I have to do a little something everyday even if its a workday.

Just shy of $100 later I think I have everything I need for my 1910s undies. Well some of that is extra lawn for a 18c skirt to go with a riding habit.... so.... say $60... a little ouchie but I got my back pay and pay raise so I can splurge!
Now to stalk the mailman till he brings me my stuff. I should have 3 boxes coming my way.

I have a shell of a corset now. Need the busk before I can go any further though. I put it aside and pulled out my cousin's quilt. I really need to get that done and figured it might be the perfect mindless work for nights I just can't think because of exhaustion.

I actually got some sewing done. Sure its not a lot but it's something. I was hoping to get more done on my two days off but yesterday was all about cleaning my house. I even got some mopping done! Now that the house is cleaner I feel more at ease to work on creating.
I am using the tutorial Jen Thompson put up. I enlarged the pattern than made it bigger for my size, re-traced and cut it out. I have the side front and front pieces sewn together than had to call it quits for the night. I have forgotten one rather important thing though.... I need a busk.... sorta frustrating when you are moving on something and its going to come to a grinding halt. Will have to order it Friday after I get paid. Hopefully they ship fast.

Cutting out lots of drill, cutting out lots of drill, la la la la la la cutting out lots of drill. Okay so I am going a wee bit crazy. I am singing that in my head to the tune of farmer in the dell.

I started last night and spent about 4 hours on it. It's been fun matching grain lines *sarcasam*. Unfornutaly one of the corsets I am cutting out for, may never have been put on grain in the first place so it may be a waste of time to be doing so now. The other I know was painstakingly put on grain so it will be easier. I just have to be really careful about adding my seam allowances back in for that one. While on my hour long search for the fashion fabric for one of the corset I was able to find scraps of drill. So all of the one corset, and four of the 18 panels on the other were cut from scraps. That always makes me happy. So 14 more panels to go. I am using two layers of drill for the strength/boning chanel portion of this corset in case anyone is wondering why the number is so high. Oh and I have to cut out the fashion fabric for the other corset. I guess I should get back to work.

Cutting out lots of drill, cutting out lots of drill, la la la la la la cutting out lots of drill

Corset - 2 / Me - 0. I think I finally have a good length. And the arm hole is good. But the tabs are crap. And the length may need an inch or so more. I am never sure with it because I like my corsets long. But the tabs are definatly crap.
