I sewed all day but none of it was for costume college. I decided now would be a good time to try using what I was taught in my serger class. So I shortened a dress to longer shirt length and hemmed it with a cover stitch. I took out the to short hem on my work pants and re hemmed them again also using the cover stitch. Then worked on a commission. Spending money for the marketplace and fabric district, YEA!
The commission was to alter a dress. What I did was, I cut out a strip of fabric to add to the bottom of a dress to lengthen it by 4 inches. Then I sewed another strip of lace on top of it after I very carefully cut around the motifs on the bottom and top of the lace strip. I guess it would be a lot like adding appliqués but it covered the entire piece I had added. I had used the cover stitch on this too so I was very proud with how professional it looked.
