My stomach is turning in knots, and I suddenly feel really dumb perhaps i should throw in the towel with sewing. I think I just wasted a week working on these combinations. I was looking through inspiration pics for my teens evening gown and they all seem to have sheer sleeves. Which means the straps to my combinations will be seen. Is that ok? Or is a total no no like today with bra straps. And if it's not a good thing what did they wear under their corset???? I am really sick to my stomach at the thought that I wasted all that time.

I don't know anything about combinations, but try not to think of it as wasted time. I have felt that way before too, try to see it more as practice.

Nearly every teens era gown I've seen has a lining of some sort at the shoulder. Even the ones with sheer sleeves. Either that, or the area where a strap would show through is covered with an opaque trim. You didn't waste your time - combinations are very necessary! If all else fails, you can just not put the straps over your shoulder and then tuck them into your corset. :)

Really? I hadn't noticed it in pictures but it gives me some relief because I was thinking about putting in a liner. This is suppose to be my mock up dress for when I have all the more expensive materials. But it is also my gala dress this year, and the first year I am to the actual gala so I need a dress.
