With how warm it was today I decided I should probably get a lighter weight fabric for the top of my Victorian Explorer gown. My choice was to go with white. I think it will look nice with the wool I am already using and be one of the easiest things to match with it. Only problem is a lightweight wool has been impossible to find. (If you know a good source PLEASE PLEASE let me know.) I found a linesy woolsey, but the more I looked into it I think it's for a lower class, and maybe no longer in use by the Victorian period. Then I started asking myself if I cared.... I don't want to be miserable because I am to hot. But the more I looked at the Linesy woolsey the more I hated it. It had a beige cast. I want WHITE. Maybe off-white but not beige.
If I used a med-weight linen would I just be asking for snarky comments?
For now I will continue to look for a light weight wool. Or wool/silk, wool/linen blend (thanks for the suggestion Aubry)....
If I don't find one soon though I will just continue with the original plan. I don't have a lot of time to look. I just didn't think it would be as warm as it has been.
Watch it all be in vain and we get a cold front where it actually resembles a spring day.
