Random question: any suggestions on how can I antique the slide buckles?
My dad suggested soaking them in vinegar. If they are of a decent metal and not covered in a paint or lacquer the acid does the antiquing trick within minutes. But these are cheaper ones so they do have a coating. I won't be able to do it before Saturday, but it bugs me enough that before I wear it again I want to try something. Preferably not buying new ones....

My first thought is to use a "wash" of thinned dark paint. But I'm kind of scared of anything that involves paint, so take that advice with a grain of salt!

I've had good luck at "antiquing" things by rubbing black nail polish over it. I usually use my fingers to rub it on if I only want a light coating.

I think they look pretty just as they are.

I've heard Rub-n-Buff recommended for antiquing, but never tried it. It's wax-based, so I'd be wary of using it near clothes, but if you're in need of a quick fix it might work.
