As much as I love the tea gown I don't have the same feelings for the ball gown. It's a love hate. There is plenty I do like about it, and it has a ton of potential.... But it's not there yet. Thankfully all doable fixes, just not doable in the time frame I have.

What's causing me to throw in the towel tonight, is surprisingly not the sleeves! They took 3 mock ups but they went together easy enough. But when I tried everything on its to short... uGH!!! The way I want to trim it it's an easy enough fix to add 3 inches or so, but still UGH!!! I MAYBE able to do it tomorrow but I kind of don't even want to try. I have enough on my list of things to do.
So I think I'm going to call it quits for the night. Cool off, recharge, and then in the morning get all the other bits that I need/want to do on my machine done and re-evaluate if I have enough time to add the skirt extension. And if I don't, try and not be bummed by it and rock my pretty dress that has non-sleevil sleeves, and gorgeous trim.
Edited to add: went looking at fashion plates. There are some really short ones all within the same time range as my dress. From the whole foot to this one.
So maybe I shouldn't feel bad for now and fix it later....

What they said! It's lovely, a good length, you're tired, and it needs ironing!

I'm going to be the idiot with the slight train :)

Well now I feel like a jerk! But I've done the train thing, too...so not a total jerk?

The idiot part refers more to the likelyhood of me personally stepping on it and wreaking havoc than anything else!

It's one of the periods where a ball train is ok, 1790s, but still not advisable for those like me :)

Oh, I hear that. I, too, wore a 1790s dress with a train to my first regency ball. Pinned that sucker to my skirt in the first ten minutes because going ass over teakettle is definitely not my idea of period appropriate behavior ;)

You're doing 1790's though right? Train is good for then. JA wrote about pinning trains up in Northanger Abbey, originally written in the 90's-00's. Not an idiot!

I am! And when I wore this dress dancing before, I pinned the overdress. I don't remember if I pinned the dress too...

I love that part too :)

I doubt you will be the only one with a train. :) And its correct with your dress. :)
Part of the problem might be me tired. I have been pulling all nighters all week. Also no time for my brain to process things like I normally do.
