Feeling sort of like one of the not cool kids
Everyone keeps saying how they are either not going to or limiting their limited classes. I have seen some mention of no classes to optomize their socializing. And I am over here "I want to take ALLLLLLL the classes". Maybe you are all light-years ahead of me in your costuming expertize and I really am not one of the 'cool' kids. :( A friend brought up that I it might just be because I am a differnt breed of costumer. I love cosplay and historical equally which means I want to learn everything I can about both, and there are more classes I am interested in then what just a hisorical costumer would be. But still... feeling slightly bummed. I love socializing with everyone. I missed it last year. Not sure why but the vibe was different. I got maximum visiting time with my roomies, (which of course is AWESOME) but so many of you are not roomies, because really, we just don't have the bed space for that kind of nonsense. Think pink princess party all the time. I don't know about you but this girls needs introvert recharge and sleep time! :)
So socializing IS a priority for me at CoCo. But learning is a VERY VERY close second. I get upset if I don't maximize that also. Its only once a year that I can be a complete sponge. While costumed socialized events only happen a handful of times a year, Spongelike learning for me is only once.
All that to say, while I am going to try and learn as much as possible I hope you guys will still love me and let me come join what ever shenanigans you are up to when I am out of classes.

I signed up for Mechanical wings, Resin casting, Needlefelting, Seamless lace garments, Leather Tooling, and Latice smocking classes. I know I won't get them all but I would be over the moon with the first two and happy with the rest. My #1 top pick that I NEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDD to take overlaps with the class I am taking. :( I want to take the Worbla one SOOOOO bad. I was pouting for awhile. But now I think I am going to splurge on the how-to books I have been eyeing and come highly recommended.

Has anyone thought of putting a Google spreadsheet together where people can like...enter their own class schedule for the weekend and everyone can see who's free when? Would that even be helpful?

But I'm excited about the classes that everybody else is taking, and I hope you will give us slackers an overview about what you learned! I wish I had a better attention span for classes - I just want them to all be 10 minutes long where I get a handout and look at examples and then leave. lol!

It is really interesting that because you do historical and cosplay you have a much broader range on interests. I think that's so awesome!
With us enthusiastic newbies joining this year, I am sure all you veterans will be searched out and forced to hang out with us at various times throughout the weekend. ;)

I only signed up for a few classes mostly because everything I wanted conflicted but also because I thought a LOT of the unlimited classes sounded really cool. And I'm a bit like Jen in that I like to figure out things myself so stuff I thought I could figure out on my own I didn't sign up for.
I'm increasingly into cosplay AND historical too. Maybe we can do some get togethers and teach each other stuff. I am very, very curious about the mysteries of Worbla...
btw one of the unlimiteds I signed up for was resin casting so if we both get in I'll see you there!

I would love to get together with you, I love learning (and sharing what I know) but get super frustrated trying to figure things out on my own. And you don't live that far away, at least in my driving terms.
I think the class would become infinitely more interesting if you are in it also!!!

All this from the girl who is quietly sobbing because she can't go this year :(

I've also run into the competing-schedules thing, which is no fun when you want to socialize but everyone is in classes, and then when you're in class, everyone is out socializing and you miss it. :( Did people ever agree on a meeting area, or something along those lines?
