Color pallette

A conversation with nuranar and suededsilk at CoCo prompted me to look up my color pallette. I have noticed ever since I was little that I don't like the colors most people say look good on me. Pinks and pastels. BLAH!!!!! I think in high school I totally rebeled and just wore black out of spite. I've backed away from that, thank goodness, but its not the light colors everybody says I should wear. I LOVE jewel tones. I found through a bit of research I am a Summer. Something between light and soft summer. With my natural hair color, a dark blonde, I am closer to the soft summer. With the super light blonde hair that I like better on me I am probably closer to  the light summer.  There is some overlap in the colors which is good. Though I do notice more of the pale icky more pink colors in the light summer. The soft summer on the other hand. I can get behind those colors. Not all jewel tones but still colors I like.

Its something I am going to play with more. That and to keep in mind to go back and reference when I change hair color by use of wigs.

Oh, interesting! How did you find out what...er...season? you are, and what colors go with it?

I'll admit I had no clue. But I remembered a few key words from the CoCo talk so I looked it up. These are the two sites that were the most helpful in me figuring things out, (I think I have anyway. :P)

I love doing the colour/seasons thing. It totally made sense for me why I liked the colours I did. :) Your soft summer palette is lovely!

I kept going back and forth with things. Becauase I would fit in one all the way but my hair color, or all the way in another but for my eye color. So yea.... its between those two.

Oh, color theory! I remember going with my mom when she had her colors done somewhere, and the lady told her she was a "vibrant summer," and said that's what I was since I look like my mom.

Cool! :D And color me surprised, as I would have thought Winter of some sort. Especially with the jewel tones, but then, Summer has some deep colors in the palette.

I hear you on not always liking the colors other people like you in, especially if they're "cutesy". Maybe people just assume all blondes must like pink?

FWIW, for anyone who's guessing at it with color swatches (like me!), go by your own skin tone and the colors you think look best, and don't rely on the hair/eye color charts. I kept coming out with Autumn, and going with that for a while, and most of those colors are horrible on me! Although I can get away with some of the greens and dark red-browns, the clearer Winter jewel tones look SO much better. (I still wish I could wear the Autumn and Summer palettes, though...)
