So ummm is it just me or is Lj being stupid? Anyway.... In my 18th century ramblings on the internet today I came across something new to me. A robe a la turque... I may need to make myself one of these.... I will admit I am still trying to figure out what makes it different then a zone front in some pictures... but so far I am in love.

Turques are pretty! Kendra has done a LOT of research on the turques, etc in the last few years. A little of your confusion might be because "zone front" is a modern term. The turque and a couple other variations could have the angled/folded back look, but "zone" isn't a term used in the period. IIRC the distinctive points of a turque are the short "cap" sleeves over different-colored longer sleeves, and the long trained skirt.

Thanks for that info. It does make complete sense but I didn't know it. :)
