I think I might have figured out something for the skirts. It actually came to me last night so that I had to get out of bed to try it. I sort of want to type in the super small text so I don't jinx myself.
Part of my problem was the waist band was just to big. So I pulled everything tight on the dress dummy. I also put about a two inch gap at the side opening. Before I had them pinned shut. Taking this new found excess I put two more knife pleats at the front. This shortens my forpart space at the top but I think that was part of the probem before. I had the flat forepart section to wide up front.  One of the suggestions that I got was to bring some of the fullness to the front. In my mind, and please somebody tell me that they understand where I am coming from with this, even if my thinking is wrong its not completely left field, was how was I suppose to bring the fullness forward if it wasn't full up front.... yeah I know I was stupid. With the extra pleat it does bring some of the fullness up front. It is still just pinned in place for now but even with that I already like the side and front view. I am going to make a bumroll up and see if I still like how it all looks after that. If so I can officially do the happy dance at that point.
