And today it's about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, if you add wind chill maybe more. LOL
I have a few swatches coming my way. My knowledge or lack of, with fabrics is a HUGE block so I thought it best to get the swatches to see and feel them.
Thank you for the input about the linesy-woolsey. I thought I was on to something for sure with it. I'm glad I decided to look into it more. And then to have confirmation that my research was right was comforting, even if it meant that wouldn't work. Now I know though, that's baby steps into knowing my fabrics and when/where to use them.
I was moaning about it all to my husband and he, the always logical one, told me to continue with my mock up. If I like one of the swatches use it. If I don't continue with the first plan but make sure I stay really hydrated, (no drinking in Vegas the night before,) bring ice water with me to the event, and if needed take AC car breaks.
Do you think if I make a sacrifice to the weather gods of something like kitty kisses, they will give me a day like today? Maybe a tad less wind but I won't be to nitpicky.

I cleaned Little Man's teeth earlier and he was MAD at me! Now he is in my lap purring his head off.

I think he's forgiven me.
I am currently going through all my sewing book trying to figure out how to attach a flap to a straight edge. I know how to do it when there are two flaps. You sew along the vertical lines leave the horizontal ones and baste the top later to form a box pleat. But I've never done one without the second flap. Hoping one of my sewing books has it.

Mock up one is done and it wasn't pretty. The very top overlapped but after that it was all downhill. At waist level it came in maybe 2 inches that you could see from the front. Rofl EPIC Fail.
Good things are the upper back width seems to be right. I don't think I need to fudge with the length much. I could kind of tell the polonaise part will be pretty, but it will need adjustments as I make the back and sides bigger.
I'll try again tomorrow.
