Jun. 12th, 2014 01:00 pmFirst week of summer classes complete. The accelerated pace is a little intimidating. I know I didn't do well on the quiz we had today, since I wasn't even able to answer two of the questions.
But I am not stressing just yet. She throws away two of the quizzes at the end of the course. I just got my book yesterday so I wasn't able to do a lot of the homework and get the needed practice. Starting next week I am going to do a study group/tutor twice a week, so that should help.
And because I know how my mind works I am starting to make a plan for working on my Gala dress. If I don't have a plan my mind races giving me anxiety. If I get anxiety I will procrastinate and not work on it. I'm trying to nip it in the bum now.
Monday - Thursday is all about school. If I get even a stitch of sewing done, GREAT. But if not IT IS OKAY. I know its stupid to have to say but I have to remind myself of that or I will stress. Friday finish any bits of homework I have left so I don't have ANY for the weekend. Bonus day if I finish homework Thursday night. Weekends SEW LIKE MAD!!!! Will probably tell hubby from now until CoCo I don't want to do or plan to do anything on the weekends. He's already seen my anxiety levels rising. I know he has because he has given me gentle reminders like "Hey babe, aren't you suppose to be sewing something," when I start procrastinating online.
I'm also going to break the dress up into stages. It is okay if it doesn't get completely done this year. I can wear it completed completed next year.
Stage one: A well fitted shell.- While the least desirable, the fabric is gorgeous and the accessories add enough pop that I won't hate it.
Stage two: The waist/belt beading complete.
Stage three: Neckband beading complete. This is my goal for this year. I would love it if I could get completely done but I am really trying not to fall into an anxiety induced depression. School will keep me close to the edge I don't want sewing to push me over.
Stage three: Waterfall skirt beading complete.
If I can get a good muslin this weekend I know I could get to stage 3 by CoCo. I enjoy and am super fast at the embroidery, beading, embellishment part. Unfortunately the part I struggle with the most is the muslin/fit/figuring out how to fix whats wrong part.
Well I am getting off here to finish up homework so I can put this plan into action!
