2nd week of the Semester finished!
Aug. 29th, 2014 03:13 pm1st Chemistry Lab and Test done also.
The test.... I made a lot of little mistakes. I hope he gives partial credit. I know I got 75% or more of the problem right but I had the wrong conversion for inches to cm. There were three problems that had that conversion in them. I also missed one mass # on an element. No matter what I got better then a C.... which I'm pretty sure you guys are know that isn't good enough for me but I am settling with the fact that, that isn't failing until I see the actual grade.
The Lab on the other hand I know I blew out of the water! I know it was only the first one and I shouldn't get cocky about it yet, but it does feel nice to know I did good and not have to worry.
3 day weekend WOOOOOOOOO!!!! Then one Hellish day of school and off to Salt Lake Comic Con Double WOOOOOOOOOOO. Goal for the weekend: Finish Chemistry homework. Finish the Pre-Lab for Chem Lab on Tuesday. Study Study and Study some more for the Anatomy Test Tuesday. Look over notes for Political Science Test also on Tuesday. After that's done Steampunk accessories, bracelets for Capt. America, start doing research on Regency dresses, and probably look over my Anatomy stuff a few more times. Can you tell what's stressing me the most for Tuesday?
So, I'm changing my Sewing Plans for the upcoming year. Its all my friends fault.... mostly Katherine.... They make fun plans and then invite me, HOW DARE THEY! *grin* So Tentatively I am going to the Jane Austin Evening in January and then maybe to a fun weekend in West Virginia next Summer. I say tentatively and maybe because I am a firm believer in Man Plans and God Laughs. So nothing is final in my head until I have tickets to the event or plane tickets. And from what I hear with the Jane Austin evening it is a big fat maybe till we have those tickets. They go fast.
Regency is one of those Eras that I adore but have always just assumed its not for me. Lets be honest those flimsy white concoctions that are a dress require a slender dainty frame. Which I am not. So yes, Gorgeous they are, but not on me. And most of the other ones I had seen that didn't fall in the above category, were boring. Fortunately the Robe-de-style and CoCo opened my eyes a little. The Robe-de-Style showed me I had to keep looking. Most of the Era may look bad on me but that doesn't mean all of it is. And then at Costume College
mlsdesigns and
the_aristocat had their gorgeous riding habits on. I could totally rock a more tailored not form hugging Regency Frock. So I decided to give Regency another shot. And guess what I found....
For the summer adventure I am still planning on making a Little white dress. Just not the super Little ones. I want to make a bib front dress with either a cross over or ruched top bib. But I know I will need to make one of the fuller back versions. Like this one--------------------------------->.
I need to be able to put my badonkadonk somewhere so I don't look like a Sausage in a white casing. I think a nice full back will do the trick. In a perfect world it would have some embroidery on the sleeve cuffs and hem. I think this maybe one of those version 1 and then version 2 type things. Added bonus to this dress. Cool (temp wise) dress for CoCo. I've decided to wear the Ballgown as my Gala gown. I'll have to push back Capt America Fancy Dress another year but I'm being realistic. I seriously doubt it will happen. If it does. YAY! but I just don't think so....
So what does this mean for future plans.....
What I'm doing, or should I say going to try and do. :)
More beading on the Robe de Style. - October
Hubby's Ren Faire Batman.- November
Finish the Waistcoat and Kirtle. This Will NOT go into the UFO bin DANGIT!!! - November
Regency Ball Gown - End of January
GoT King's Landing dress- April
Bib Front Regency Dress- June
1910s Suit- CoCo
After this point projects will probably start to fall off if I run out of time.
Bicycling outfit - CoCo -This one is mostly dependent on if Katherine finishes hers. Getting it done because its a group thing always motivates me to get it done, but then the 1910s suit may have to come off....

Excuse me while I wipe away the Drool. I LOVE this dress. I did a wee little bit of research on it and just as I finished reading that the sleeves were inspired by the Renaissance
koshka_the_cat texted me back saying it was Renaissance inspired. I couldn't stop laughing. She figured out my draw to the dress before I did. I have said before Renaissance is my first costuming love and look! It likes to prove itself even in my sub conscious. Now I am on the hunt for the perfect fabric. I am hoping to find that Perfect sari or Shawl (in my research I found out it's a shawl dress). I'm not overly found of the pink so that parts not a requirement. I would be ecstatic if I could find it in a green/blue colorway. But I'm in the mind frame that if the right fabric shows itself as pink I'll take it. So I would LOVE sources. Where do you guys get your fab Regency Shawls and/or Saris.

Date: 2014-08-30 04:36 am (UTC)And for saris? Ebay. I've found ones for about $12-15 apiece, though it definitely does take some digging. And watch out for the "art silk" ones if you want to get a natural fiber, 'cause "art" means "artificial"!
