2014 Costuming Wrap up... again....
Jan. 1st, 2015 10:43 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I know every year I say I wish I had completed more during the year. This year I am proud of what I got done. At the end of 2013 I was laid off. Hubby and I decided to take this as a sign and have me go back to school. As much as I complain about it, I constantly say a prayer of thanks for this even being an option. Having a time limit with the GI Bill has made me hit it hard though. Which doesn't leave lots of time for sewing.
I was able to finish complete (from the skin out) outfits from two, new to me, eras this year.
Costumes:
1920s Robe de Style. I am extremely happy with this because of all the work put into the beading and the accesories I made.

plus a corset and side hoops.

All that to say 2015... BRING IT! I'm ready.

My 2014 to-do list-
Complete 4 UFOs, - Didn't finish a single one.... will carry this one over to 2015
Complete and Compete in two Sheer Madness Challenges
Finish 3 Retro styles - I only finished one. another to carry over.
Victorian explorer outfit -
Victorian Fancy dress inspired Capt. America - Didn't even touch this one. I don't forsee it getting done in 2015 either, but I don't forsee my love of Captain America or my fasination with Victorian Fancy dress fading anytime soon. 2016 it is.
Renaissance batman - Again Hubby's costume fell by the wayside... You would think I don't like the man or something. This one will carry over.
Finish the cross stitch quilt ACK! I didn't touch this at all.
Gala gown

2015 Sewing To-do list.
Regency Petticoat - Jan 30
Regency Bib front day dress - Jan 30 (embroidered by June)
Regency Ball gown - Jan 30
GoT King Landings type dress with dragonfly stumpwork and embroidery. April 3
A linen waistcoat- by S. California Faire season

At minimum a 18th century petticoat and two different tops for possibly going to Under the Redcoat.
Lolita Red Riding hood - CoCo
1930s Beach Pajamas - Coco
Vernet Group Project - December 1
1910s blouse - CoCo
1910s suit - CoCo
Renaissance batman
Complete at least 1 new cosplay-besides the GoT, I have a list of 15+ I want to make.
Finish the cross stitch quilt -
Finish 3 Retro styles to include in my everyday wardrobe.
Complete 3 UFOs and do not create any new ones.
I know that is extremely abitious but I welcome the challenge this year. I want to push myself! School does and will always come first but I will not use it as an excuse.
Some resolutions of mine that are costume related. I know the first one is cliche. But lose weight. I am tired of not fitting patterns. Not fitting the cute buyable items. I am really trying to push it this year. I know it will sound vain but it will help with the visual quality of my Cosplays also. I want to start making a real name for myself with the Cosplay. Shameless plug but I would appreciate any and all likes and share on my Cosplay page on Facebook.
I want to continue to challenge myself with new eras (which my list does).
I want to attend more events. Hubby and I are on a limited income so this one has to be within reason. But I made a point of it last year and I want to continue. It fufills another resolution also. I want to surround myself with people I enjoy. Who are a postive light in my life. I have enough trouble on my own with anxiety and depression. I am cutting the negative out even if that is people. (yes something did spawn this in 2014.)
I want to continue working on hair and make-up in my day to day life but especially in costuming.
I want to learn more about photography and editing skills.
