Random question for the hive mind.
I've noticed in all the costume dramas I've been watching, what appears to be a wider back then the front at the bodice. Is this because all the girls have no chests or is the bottom of the bodice not to go under their busts?
My fashion plate has such a narrow bust. I assumed it was fashion plate trickery. But after watching these movies I wonder if I am missing something. or is the fashion plate and movie stars all A cups and this D cup gal doesn't have a chance. I will just have a larger bodice.

Jennifer Rosbrugh wrote a great article about dressing curvier figures. It includes photos and portraits of 'fluffier' ladies from lots of different eras, and just seeing them made me feel better (though the article does have some great tips and tricks too!) http://historicalsewing.com/curvy-dressing-historical
