Jane Austen Evening 2015- Ballgown

I had so much fun! Seriously the only down side to the whole weekend was waking up with a heat headache on Saturday. Pair that with my touche stomach and I felt like I had a hangover. I opted out of going for Indian food but it may have worked in my favor. I was able to complete finishing touches on my Gala gown. Between all your input, some SUPER sweet comments at the event, and the pictures
twilatee took I think I might like it at the length it is. I will need a new petticoat if I keep it this length though. Before my next wearing I have a few tweaks I want to make. But even without the tweaks I felt like a princess.

Here's just a couple pictures until I can get a proper blog post written for it, and the gown I made for the tea.

I was happy for a chance to wear my new Necklace and earring set from
tayloropolis.I chose one that had Fire Opals and love it!

The tea wasn't bad. By then my stomach was feeling better so I was able to enjoy food. The speaker spoke for to long though... I might be saying that because I wanted to talk with friends more then I wanted to hear what he was saying.... maybe...
Besides a desire for more embroidery, I LOVE everything about the teagown. Feel like a princess in it -check, Flattering to my figure - yes, comfortable to wear - yep, able to dress myself - YES WOO!!
I didn't actually dance during the dance but I still had fun. I am the type with two left feet and if there are lots of moves I get 3-5 out of 10. There were so many people on the floor that there really wasn't a 'back of the room I can mess up 5-7 of the moves and no one cares' place so I opted out of going on the floor. Thankfully
bauhausfrau was sitting out of the dancing also. All the talking I missed during the tea was able to be had up in the gallery were I could watch the dancing. I LIKED that. And who knows... maybe next time I will be brave enough to try the dancing part.
Next up for me is cleaning my house. Holy cow it is a mess! I feel a little bad for
koshka_the_cat, but they do say real friends don't care about how messy your house is. :) Thankfully she adores kitties and imho I have a cute one to distract her for the short time she was actually here. I also have the ace up my sleeve of a stupidly excited giant cow dog that demands attention. :) It was dress or clean and I chose to sew....
I also think a small break from sewing is needed. I just finished two dresses, a corset and a petticoat in just over a month. One of those dresses was done in 8 days. That is a whole level of crainess I am still wrapping my mind around. Its a confindence boost that I can do it, but it also showed me a few things on how my brain works. When it comes to road blocks I need time to ponder. I am super quick to frustration, and I need time to process it and come up with solutions. 8 days didn't allow for a lot of that. Hence the, "this dress is ruined because of the length being wrong melt down". No time to process that, no, its okay and here are some fashion plates to prove it.
So the next two weeks won't be that interesting around here. Lots of cleaning and prepping for Spring semester which starts next week for me. When I do get back to sewing though it will be my GoT dress. I am REALLY excited to get started on that project.
