I have a really good mock up. I'm so happy! I still want to tweak the under arm and shoulder width areas but I am so close!!! I probably could have had a final version tonight but my shoulder was not having anymore contortionist acts. Tomorrow! I did discover my super cute mini pocket hoops are going to be to small. :( so I'll redo those tomorrow. They need to be longer more than anything but I think wider wouldn't hurt. From the front they are fine but from the side when you compare it to my big ol butt. Hahahahaha.......
I don't think version 2.0 will be as cute though. I need quick and dirty now. Mock up will be done this weekend!!!!

Pretty successful day. Corset is almost done. I have a few more sections of bias to finish on the bottom. I tried it on with the slip and thigh highs so I could get a length of the elastic for the garters. I was going to take a couple pictures too but hated how I looked in it so there will be no pictures. I know a lot of its my own body insecurities. But also being a plus sized gal I try to play up my curves, I think the hour glass shape is sexy, and prefer something that gives that shape. Or something to counter my natural pear shape by making my chest look bigger and everything below look smaller. This corset doesn't. It's the first corset that I have to push my bust down and not up. I asked my hubby what he thought about it and I could tell he didn't like it at all by his face. He said it made my boobs flat. After I told him it was suppose to he said the corset was a success then. But he's not a fan.
I'll wait to pass judgement till after the mock up is done. Hopefully I won't see the gourd shape I have now, with the skirt and looser fitting top.
I also mocked my kirtle bodice up. It needed some minor tweaks but they were easy fixes. I have the drill cut out and marked.
I'm not sure how much I can get done tomorrow with it being Father's Day but we aren't planning on staying over there all day, so I should get a few hours worth of work in.

Finally got my grades in! 3 As and a B. The B was in the evil Sociology class. Which truly shocks me. I had to have gotten an A on the final. I feel like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders.
Hubby says I'm not allowed to complain about my grades anymore, after seeing my scores in Math. I aced my final and got a 99.1 overall in the class. I told him I had to fight for that grade. Math doesn't come easy for me, it's only after several hours of homework, working the problems over and over again, that I finally get it.
He just continued to tease me about not getting 100% in the class. Jerk...

While I was on a hat kick I finished embellishing my chemise gown hat. It feels good to have finished things even if it's not the planned things.

Doesn't look like I will get to stop by Jo-Anns after school tomorrow. (I haven't even gotten the grades for last semester and the next is starting. So not fair!!!!) Our water heater is leaking. *grrrr* I am saying a few prayers of thanks for the settlement and now having a raining day fund, or as hubby and I have been joking the 'stop the small river from flowing through our garage fund' but it's still blah!

I got my Autumn dress kirtle back from the dry cleaners today. I know, I know your saying "......and?" But it makes me giddy with happiness!!! It's all bright and pretty in its clean-ness. And I will be wearing it this Saturday to a brand new faire in Simi Valley. I was hoping to have something new and exciting to wear for it, but Pj bottoms have to get done first. I need to finish 3 for a care package going out to my brother-in-law this week, and one for my brother's b-day on Saturday. Once that's done I wouldn't have much time to finish something and I don't want to half-ass anything. We shall see.... I do have a half finished partlet, from a limited Costume College class. From what, two years ago? Would be another UFO out of the way if I finished that up. I guess I just have to wait and see how quickly I finish those PJs.

Almost 10000 beads. My costume college fund is kind of low after this purchase but look at all those pretties. I still have 3000 sew on rhinestones coming.... I might be committed now.

I hate cutting things out. It is truly one of the worst things when it comes to crafts and or sewing that deals with fabric! - this rant brought to you because my hand hurts. 5 pj bottoms cut out. Two more to go. Then hopefully my serger wants to play right.
I'm in a bit of a slump because my three day weekend just passed and I was hoping to get a lot more done creatively. I did do quite a bit of research but nothing hands on. All my energy was put into house remodels. With help from my Dad we took the wall unit swamp cooler out and put in a roof unit, new air duct and all. Of course when you take a wall unit out it leaves a hole in your wall. So we had to patch that also. All that is left is to run the water line and power to the roof unit and texture and paint the wall. Thankfully it's Fall and past swamp cooler time so the first two don't have to be done till Spring. The last one should be done by Sunday at latest.
I guess I lied a little about not getting to do anything creative. I have been making myself do a little cross stitching every day, even if its just a few lines. So I have more then just the big orange blob, I showed you last time. I have several blobs!

I have a few questions I would love feedback on. I am debating on teaching at Costume College next year. I don't want to offer something no one is interested in. I would also like to do it as anxiety free as possible.

For anyone who's attends Costume College would you be interested in a how to make leek buttons class. I know how and Can show how to make the death head and checkerboard right now. If I go ahead with it I wouldn't be opposed to learning more.

To anyone who has taught. Is it an easy process? How was the experience, the good and the bad? Did you have problems with people being snarky? Do you choose if your class is limited or not? Any pros or cons for limited vs unlimited?
Those are the only questions I can think of... Like I said any feedback is highly appreciated and feel free to pm me if you don't want to make something public.

I'm trying to knock out another UFO before I go to Vegas this weekend. I had started a pair of sleeves for the Autumn dress, then put them aside when the dress split into two version. I don't see why the sleeves can't be used in both versions and the sleeves I have been using were quick and dirty ones that just stuck around and continued to be used.
Only problem with ufos is trying to figure out what I was doing in the first place. There is the *facepalm* what was I thinking moments. Like placing the seam on the front and not the back of the arm... Doh! And then the what in the heck?!?! Moments. I think I have figured them all out now, or at least a plan to work with what I have. I should have pretty and shiny new sleeves for the weekend!

This is why I like this time of year.

He seeks me out to cuddle. And the colder it gets the more he cuddles. Yes it's still 76 degrees with out the swamp cooler on buts it's cool enough for the cuddles to start!

Instead of a coco recap I will show you a picture of what I was working on while I was tdy.
I tried to teach myself to knit but because of stress the part of my brain that processes things totally turned off and every time I read the directions it might as well as been a foreign language. So I have up and picked up my other project. Even when upset I have to be creative but it had to be mindless work.

I know it just looks like a orangish blob but its the start to a huge cross stitch that will then be turned into the center of a quilt for my newest god daughter.

I know I have been quiet around here since CoCo. Mostly in part to a month long TDY to another prison. That is a whole post in and of its self that I may or may not write up. Short story is it was horrible and stressful and has made me second guessing everything. I no longer wish to be doing this line of work and plan to not be doing this by the first of the new year. I would quit now but I am the primary income for my household and you can't receive unemployment if you quit... Fortunately they are negotiating so the State can take over our prison and I couldn't be happier. Solves my problem quite nicely... I know I shouldn't be this happy to be laid off but I truly am. But because I am happy about it I fear it will fall through somehow. *sigh*
I finally finished unpacking from the tdy and started unpacking my coco stuff. That's my goal for this weekend. Once I find the camera I will upload my pics and do a CoCo recap. Then you guys have to pretend its all new and fresh and fun again!!!!

Didn't get the corset done for the capt america outfit, but I do have a plan b! Bag is packed, or as packed as its going to be. So i'm very excited!!!! In 7 hours I leave my house to venture down to L.A. To pick up Katherine and Aubry. Which means I need to get to sleep. Turn off brain!!

llyrafantasyfae: (Default)

Ack my corset lace just broke. Has anyone ever tried 1/4th inch twill tape? Think it will hold?

llyrafantasyfae: (Default)

Gala gown: done!
Chemise gown: needs hem
Capt America: a lot....
I did cut out the bloomers and add the fabric paint stars to it. I also marked the pattern for the umbrellas paint.

I decided I am going to bring my ren faire kirtle for another costume to wear on Friday. Depending on how far I get on the Capt America is when on Friday I will wear it.

I also got a call from work today. I will be going to Oklahoma the day after I get back from coco. I'm a little scared. But I always am with change and the unknown. It's for a month. I plan to bring my teach yourself to knit kit... It's as good a time as any I guess....

llyrafantasyfae: (Default)

A positive post, because I told you I was determined. My hat for my chemise gown. I still want to add bows around the crown but I ran out of the wine ribbon. It will have it by the next time I wear it.

Now a stupid question. How do you make them stay on your head/wig?

llyrafantasyfae: (Default)

Okay CoCo stress has hit. Past three nights I have had anxiety induced nightmares. ugh....
I love CoCo, I love dressing up, I love the classes and learning more, I love the socializing, but its always so nerve wracking for me.
I know it doesn't help that I am anxiety ridden thing to start with. But for some reason it brings out my insecurities with everything!!!!! My skills or lack of... And My weight... Being on the top of the list. I am trying very hard to not let it get to me this year. It's going to be harder than normal though, because I am off any type of helper meds, the want of a baby and all. I thought I was doing okay, but the nightmares have me afraid I am in a losing battle.
So I was curious if anyone else has the same back and forth love/stress relationship with coco.

It's a little late but I haven't gone to bed yet so I wanted to share a caturday pic. Sort of crappy pic because it was taken on my phone to catch him in action.
I got up from working on trim to take a shower and layed the project over the back of the couch. Told little man to leave it alone because I saw him eyeing it and came back to this. He is trying to tunnel into the silk taffeta.

Thank you

I just got home and read all of your comments. Thank you!! My hubby had me second guessing and I spent the whole night working myself up. By this morning I had convinced myself that it was horrible. Crappy day at work did have one benefit of me not thinking about it at all.
But home now and your replies make me feel better, (though that sneaky snake of doubt is still in my head now) so I am going to get on the trim so I can finish it and hopefully be onto the next thing tonight.

llyrafantasyfae: (Default)

Didn't get as much done as I wanted to but progress is progress.
Sleeves are in. Trim is made and I was going to put it on but discovered I had forgotten the neck facing. DOH. I made that piece. Pinned it all in, got about two stitches in then decided it was past my bedtime. Tomorrow.
