My emotions have been all over. Mostly irritable though. I went to the range with my Dad yesterday and felt fine but when I got home I found myself snapping at the hubby for no reason. I could tell I was starting to get on his nerves also so I went and laid in bed with the kitty and just messed around on my phone. I started plotting future sewing projects and that made me feel in control again.
So here's my tenative plans for the next year. Obviously subject to change.
Non costuming sewing
Secret present: It's a secret. :)
Retro clothing pieces: When I am not being lazy I am drawn to this style. But being bigger its hard to find anything from a ready wear site. So I need to make them already.
Historical
Vernet project: I have the corset, shoes, and necklace. I have a long way to go with this project, and it kind of intimidates me because of my 50/50 odds with this years Regency, but it is the only thing I am allowed to work on besides the above secret present until my self imposed due date of the end of my school's Thanksgiving break. I dedicated myself so it needs to happen. I am not allowed to buy the fabric until my first school check which won't be for another month. BUT I can mock up the scariness that is the bodice and sleeves.
Drawn thread partlet: I've found enough examples to make me think it would be feasible.  Still looking for that holy grail documentation piece though
New non black or silk kirtle and waistcoat Or overgown via Tudor Tailor: I need something lighter for faire and my black kirtle that I adore is not allowed. :(
1910s suit: I have all the fabric, patterns, undergarments and shoes for this. I just need to make it happen. And I think it will fit with the rebels theme of coco next year if I make it and make suffergette accesories.
1930s beach pajamas: I want these dangit!!!!!
Cosplay
Taffeta from Wreck it Ralph: I still need to find the jacket or fabric to make one, the shoes, and the gloves. I have everything else.

No Flutter's variant of SuperGirl: I have nothing for this one yet, but it needs to be in my life like yesterday. Everything I hated (aka felt self concious about) is fixed with this version. No bare mid drift. Super short skirt is over a pair of bloomers. Yep, I need this costume.  I can see it being the one I start as soon as I am done with Vernet, as long as my Ren stuff is not looming yet.

Winter Fairy: It started out as my variant of a Lost Hope fairy but  then it went Nuts. Why can't I just play nice with others and their ideas? I did the same thing with my Little Red. Anyway... here how its morphed.
I need an undergown similiar to this. With an overgown that is very Regency inspired. I want to do something like this one out of a blue and white shot silk taffeta I have. But I want to tatter the edges to make it seem windtorn. And learn somehow to paint it to make it look like its edges have been covered with frost.
Make-up a combination of this and this
I will need ears. I haven't figured out hair yet. Maybe long wefts added into my own. Maybe an updo of sorts... not clue. But I do think I need a crown that resembles this.
The deal breaker could be the wings. I want the wings to look like they are made of ice. Magical ice. But I don't want them to look craft faire. I may have found a source. But holy cow are they expensive.
If this comes tovether, this will be my Gala outfit for next year. Midsummer nights dream seems a perfect setting for it.
GoT: I just need to figure out how to fix that stupid neckline/bust issue and then sew in the lining, and hem it.
Jedi Costumes: They have been on my list for my husband and I for awhile now. We finally have two lightsabers, and it would fit the CoCo theme.

With the costume college wrap up post under my belt, and my sewing spaces slowly being cleared, the next step is planning for the upcoming year. I wasn't fibbing in anyway when I said my costuming year revolves around Costume College. Yes I have other events but even if I make a costume for them, that costume will probably be worn at CoCo so its still CoCo planning. :)
First up for me is Salt Lake Comic Con. I was hoping to have a Fem Doctor but by the time the Spoonflower fabric gets here I won't be able to finish the costume. Instead I am hoping to make the Victorian Explorer more steamy. My hope is to achieve this with the right accessories. Nothing too cliche like gluing on a bunch of gears but hopefully I can come up with something cool. I'll also be re-wearing Capt America. Thankfully that one is already done. I might make a couple bracelets to match the choker but those are quick and easy projects.
My hand sewing project will be finishing the beading on my Robe de Style. I would like to enter it into the Embellishment challenge on the Shear Madness costume site which ends in October.
My next Con is Comikaze which happens around Halloween. Again it would be cool to complete the Fem Doctor but I really want to start the next needed project first.
Which is Renaissance Faire garb. My poor husband's costumes always get pushed aside for mine and I need to remedy this. We are going to the Nottingham Festival in November which is a perfect time to have his Renaissance Batman costume done. I would love to have my Ren Wench Robin to go with it but I know this next semester is going to be intense so I won't push my luck. My goal for me is to finish my Kirtle and waistcoat.
After that I don't have anything planned until WonderCon and Southern California Ren faire in April. Both of these I plan to wear a Kings Landing type Game of Thrones dress. Coincidentally, my dress will have a lot of similarities to Sansa's Dragonfly dress. I'm not sure how it happened since I hadn't watch far enough into the seasons when I started planning it to base my dress off of it. Maybe I saw a screen shot and my subconscious went from there. My thought process was I love dragonflies. I wanted the dragonflies to be stumpwork in blues, greens, and dark purples, so I thought a good base for the gown would be a lilac color. My plan also evolved to include embroidery flowers/leaves/vines in greens and purples so my fabric color wasn't going to budge.. Then I saw this picture and wondered what my subconscious was up to.

[livejournal.com profile] koshka_the_cat and I are planning on wearing these dresses to the Ren faire. We don't have  a set date yet. Ideally it would be on Time Traveler's weekend. But we have to wait and see when that is. We would like to try and go earlier in the season in hopes that it is a cooler day. If you have a Game of Thrones dress or plan on making one and want to join us, we'd love for you to join us!
Once I finish the Game of Throne dress it will be only Costume College sewing. My goal is to finish all of the above early so I can get a start on whats below sooner rather than later. If I don't I know I won't have time in the remaining 3 months before Costume College to finish it all. I plan to work on my 1910s suit, the top middle one.

a bicycling outfit, which will be a combination of these two:

I am curious if anyone would like to join me in making a Fancy dress costume? I think it would be a great group project. The fun with Fancy dress is it was used in several eras so you wouldn't be limited to an era you don't particularly like. You can also choose your own theme for your dress which opens it up even further. I plan to do a Victorian Fancy dress with a Captain America theme. I had mentioned it before, I have been planning it for a couple years now and I have most if not all of the fabric, so I am determined to do it this year. I just think it would be fun to do it with others. If no one joins me it will be my Gala gown. If others want to play I am open to doing it whenever.
Lastly if there is time I want to make a new pair of 30s beach pajamas, a set of bloomers and/or tap pants to go under ALL THE THINGS and a dressing gown/banyan for the Princess Party and Sunday Undies.
Whew!!! that's an intimidating list but I am still on the Costume College inspiration high so YAY!!!! bring it!

There has been much plotting over here, on what to do for costuming in 2012. I want things that will challenge me, how else would I grow? But at the same time I need some things that I will just enjoy. The more I can get out of my stash the better. AND I want to feel like a pretty pretty princess at Costume College. I have costumes that I am proud of by none that really cross into pretty pretty princess.
