I didn't get everything I wanted to get done, my cold came back Saturday. But I did get a lot done despite that. I also made 8 jars of Strawberry-Raspberry jam, and made my hubby clam chowder from scratch. Successful weekend!

  • Deglaze 20s shoes

  • Figure out painting scheme for shoes

  • First coat on shoes

  • Last bits of hand sewing on corset

  • mini pocket hoops

  • Mock up Dress

  • Boning channels on Kirtle top

  • Bone pieces

kirtle boning --- I love how it reminds me of armor.

  • Order Taffeta for hairpiece

  • Pick a bag --- I  picked the Silver one.

I also finalized a pattern for a bag. With CoCo's theme being accessories I am thinking about them a little more then I usually do. With [livejournal.com profile] jubilima's post about the Beetle Wing Embroidery I decided to take the plunge and practice some myself. I don't think I am to the point of making a whole dress yet, (ahhhh whole new era!!! Scary!!!) but I wanted to practice. What better way to practice then with a bag!
bag idea
My fabric from spoonflower came in over the weekend also. I am excited to work on this project, and would love to get it done in time for CoCo but I won't hold my breath. My inspiration is the top middle one.

Wow! You got so much done! That is a gorgeous beetle wing pattern. Is it original? And that's a super 1910s dress design. The colors will look so lovely on you.

The one under it is, that's why I was using it as my base. But I am combining elements from another one so I can practice adding goldwork into the design.

hhheeeeyyyy I recognize that bag! FABULOUS!!!! Pretty please post more pics of your work on it, I would love to follow that project!

This pic is too little to see what you did-- what are you using for beetle wings? Beetle wings? Fake nails?

I'll share as much as I can. ;)
They are real beetle wings. Don't worry though Hubby thought they were fake nails also.

Where in the world did you get such pretty things? Are they delicate? Will they shred with any real use of the bag? I love this project and can't wait to see more!

I got mine off of Etsy. Straight from Thailand! Benefit of getting them from there is they are a by-product of the food industry so helpless beetles aren't being killed just for me to play with their wings.
The wings are actually pretty tough. Fake nails or nails isn't to far off. They have some flex like a nail but if I were to push to much it would snap. I put a link on my blogger to julilima's post about her progress. She sums it up really nicely what shes found out so far. And I will add more as I get to it. :)
