From not sleeping very well Friday, morning came to early. It doesn't help that I am a night owl, but I had to teach. Classes went a lot better this year. At least on my end. Last year I was shaking. This year I think I stammered a couple times but felt a great deal more confident. My favorite part was at the end when students came up to thank me or tell me the class was fun. The best compliment in my book was when they said they had tried it before and didn't understand it, but now they do.  I especially liked when they showed me what they had completed in class. I love inspiring people to make ALL THE THINGS!!!!
After my class I changed into Luigi. Not a lot of pictures in that costume. I didn't expect there to be though. It was my I am in class all day, I've worn this before, and its one of my most comfy costumes. If it wasn't for the wig and eyelashes I don't think I would ever have the desire to take it off. I took a Resin casting class and [livejournal.com profile] jennylafleur's curl class on Friday. Now I want to cast all the things. Curls are another story. Those things still baffle me.
For the Social I wore my Little Red Riding Hood. I love this costume. For several reasons. 1. It is exactly as I envisioned it! 2. It went together in just one week. That was a great confidence boost after the fail that was my GoT dress. 3. I didn't feel or have I seen a picture where I look or felt like a blowfish. 4. Even after wearing it I don't want to change anything. I want to add pearl to the skirt trim, and make a shirt, but I don't want to change anything. WOOOOO and lastly 5. It's a transformation type costume.  What I mean by that is normally I get cute costumes. Nothing wrong with that, My coloring lends itself to cute. I embrace that. But part of the growth I want to experiance with costuming is being able to transform myself. So I didn't want my Little Red to be cute. I wanted mysterious, sexy perhaps, and dark. Basicially anything BUT cute. I think I can call it a success. During the night I only heard cute once. :)

And for kicks and giggles. A pic of me in my stereotypical pose. And another that I manipulated.

After was the pink princess party. Usually I only stick around for a little while. So many people in one place drain this gal's batteries. This year I stuck around till close to the end. There were many chats with different folks that made my heart very happy. My favorite part was at the end when we played a CoCo version of Cards against Humanity. I also got in some selfies. Which continues to be a highlight for me. Especially because I am completely fangirling that some of you want to be in a picture with Little ol me.

And for a second night in a row Jen made my night. She went and got her wolf mask so I can get a pic with her. *squeeeeeeee*

I had to be up at 9 on Saturday also. I think it was at this point I decided I will have to let the teacher organizers know that I just couldn't do a class before 10 or 11. I'm just not a morning person. I was not partying hard and barely had any liquer to wake up feeling like I was hung over. The completed buttons at the end of the class made up for the hang over feeling.

After my class I returned to my room to find [livejournal.com profile] gilded_garb had made it. *squee* We had lunch and then I was off to another class. Needlefelting. She had us making flowers because CoCo wanted her to teach costume related things. But I rebeled from the start and began making a kitty. I also picked her brain about how to use the technique for raised embroidery type things on costumes.
The Gala is usually my favorite event. This year not so much. It felt lke it was over before it even began. But I get the vibe everyone feels the same way. I wouldn't have minded the red carpet if it didn't turn into a time sapping C.F. I am really curious how late it made our start. And then to end early!?!?!?!?! I heard it was apart of their contract with the hotel, but why?!?!?! How are things suppose to turn back into mice and pumpkins if it doesn't go to 12?
I'm so glad Sara decided to dress up with me as Burlesque versions of Cap and Winter Solider. I felt a little bad that no one seemed to know she was Bucky. But I Love my Bucky and I think she looked great!!!! She also boosted my confidence to wear mine. If she so chooses I owe her a "I wear and rock the hell out of whatever you want us to wear" type event.
Some of my favorite moments of the night. That rump was made for dancing!:

I hope that works.
Sunday I was up early yet again. This time to take a class. I took the mechanical wings class and by far it was my favorite.
IMG_3642
I think Little Man needs some wings....
After the class was over I got dressed in my Regency teagown. I tried to attend another class, Kendra's hat class but I think the lack of sleep was catching up to me. I was getting weepy and irritiable. So I left early and went to stand by the Thermoplastic's table.  I was able to join back up with people later and enjoyed some time outside on the patio. I also got to see a bunch of the Lost Hope fairies. I loved each of your ideas.

There was another trunk store, this time with ribbons, but I had to leave before I actually bought anything. It was at that point I knew I was running on fumes. I left and got some alone time and recharged enough to go back out to the Hippie resturant.  I'm so glad I did too. As much as I enjoy the silliness of the bigger events. I love the realness of the small get togethers more.
Monday I made a airport run. 405 traffic sucks! When I got back I asked Katherine if she minded us checking out late and took a nap. Smartest thing I did all weekend. Lucky for us traffic to Long Beach wasn't bad at all. Our timing worked out well also. By the time we got there, walked around the deck a couple times and found something to eat [livejournal.com profile] nuranar and [livejournal.com profile] fancyfrocks were just arriving. We finished eating just as our room was available. There was much geeking out over the room, and a quest to find orginal signatures and serial numbers of the sailors who worked on the ship.  There was much squeeing when we found a long paragaph under one drawer but it was the 80s. Dang!
We did a bit more exploring of the ship then started getting dressed for dinner. Dinner and then the exploring the ship at night was Awesome. The little girl in me, who still likes playing make believe and dressing up, was going wild. I won't go as far as to say it was magical, but it was Awesome.  This has been on my bucket list for some time now and I can happily cross it off. :)

Lauren captured this moment for me that sums up the whole evening and how it was playing out in my head, perfectly.

So despite the lows there were a lot of great memories. The kind I will keep close to my heart. For someone who has always been the outsider it still amazes me that I have found others like me. Not only that but that you guys might actually like me too.  And see, there goes the tears again. So I am going to close this here.  I promise the next post will be less emo as I plan whats next in my costuming world for the next year.

You look awesome in all of your costumes this year! The night on the ship sounds like such a fun and relaxing ending to Costume College, the perfect decompression chamber that I think every crazy event like that needs :) And your robe de stile looks so perfect in that setting, there's something about the lighting that really looks 'right'!

Thank you. It really was a good ending. If its feasible I think it should be a future possibility for sure! I can't take any credit for the 'Right' look. THat was completely Lauren. I didn't even have to put it through a filter.

I love all the photos from the ship! And that last one is just stunning!

And you look so badass and all femme fatale in your LRRH-outfit. Definitely mysterious, sexy and dark.

you look soooo fantastic! And, for the record, I totally got that [livejournal.com profile] gilded_garb was Bucky as soon as I saw the photo of you two together. And I haven't even seen the movie! I thought you guys were adorbs. (Even though all I saw was pics...you are making me want to go to CoCo!)

woooooo. I was surprised how many people didn't. I figured with the Marvel movies that geeky info would be pop culture enough. Guess not.
Go to CoCo!!!!!!

I think that you are amazing! You taught and took so many classes and looked fabulous the entire time. Your multi-coloured death head button class was one of my favourites. :) (I also think I figured out the 6 spoke button!) I love the Queen Mary photos! Looks like it was an amazing time!

Thank you. I promise next time we met I will try to not be as tired, and not have black cloud hanging over me. Just the same I enjoyed our more quiet moments and being able to just talk to you, and fangirling with you, and giving you a very brief glimpse of Calfornia.

Thanks for saying that. I know you and K got the worse of it. I relieved to know that I wasn't a total black cloud.

Definitely not! And that's what roomies are for. We are there to offer hugs or just space when you need it.

If you offer the death-head button class again, I'm definitely going to have to take it. They're so pretty!

I absolutely loved your Little Red - the whole costume just looked absolutely perfect. And that picture of you on the Queen Mary is just beautiful!

I was going to see if there was still desire for it. I keep getting asked about it but don't want to be THAT class, that people wish would just go away already
Thank you!

Late to the party, but it was great to see you at Costume College!

Your Little Red looked fantastic, and I think you definitely hit the darker, mysterious, sexy look perfectly! (I'm thinking I may have said "cute"? If so, it's my generic go-to that just means "pretty/great/looks good!")

I am definitely wishing I took that multi-colored buttons class...

And the Captain America/Winter Soldier costumes were awesome. In fact, I wanted to compliment [livejournal.com profile] gilded_garb, but I missed my opportunity since we ended up seated far away from all of you for the Gala. But the characters were obvious, at least to me. :)
