Working away on my steampunk jacket. I am liking it... There has been parts I am frustrated about (like the edges around the collar not lying flat so you see the lining,) but I think I will be able to fix them. A few pics. It looks so much better in front of my eyes than it does in these pics though.

Thanks. *whisper* and the kitty hair... that made me chuckle. I thought I had done a good job of keeping him away.

Ah, but there is a trick to making that collar lay flat with the lining not showing. I hope it's not too late for you to do this.
After you've sewn the lining to the collar, open it out flat, right sides up, collar on one side, lining on the other. Make sure the seam allowance stays on the lining side. Press it flat.
Machine stitch on the lining side about an 1/8th inch from the seam, catching the seam allowance. Then turn the lining back down under the collar and steam press. The stitching with the seam allowance will keep the lining in place.
This is called understitching.

I will have to keep this in mind for the next time. I tried pressing the life out of it but it didn't want to listen at all, so I topstitched around the whole thing.
