So with my husband having been gone for duty you would think I would have a good portion of the petticoat if not the skirt done. Yea..... ummm.... blame GW. I got two more levels and lots more dots. I am sort of obsessed with the dots right now. The dots are towns explored that at a later time you can fast travel to. Yea I am in the Pokemon faze with that and want to catch them all. Yes I am utterly mad... Its okay.
Back to Steampunk. I was able to get the side back panels attached and french seamed, And the back peices attached, last night. I still need to finish the french seam on that one. then I can add my knit tulle ruffles. I am going to add the pleats in but not do the gathering or attach the waist bad until after the body bootcamp is done in 3 months. The plan is to lose as much weight as possible.... I really don't want to redo the waist bad so it can wait. I then hem the bottom and I am done with the petticoat and onto the skirt. Only.... two more weeks worth of work... at least at my pace lately.
Also steampunk related.... I got these WONDERFUL hairsticks to go with the outfit. I like them TONS. Obviously to have paid so much with the buy it now. I didn't want to risk being out bid simply because I am on another timezone. I know her last pair went for 30 something so this isn't to much more. I am going to add a few more gears and cogs to it but I do like it as is.

Oh and Avien, this is what I meant by headband googles. I hope the link goes through. I want a pair similiar to this. Add my hairsticks because I don't have cool trendy short hair like that. I can see it working. :)

The Steampunk costume is moving slow but there is progress being made. I finished the front pieces of the petticoat. I ended up decideing on a french seam. I have come to like using those when there is no lining to a project. I just don't care for the unfinished seam look. I should probably get a serger. So two seams and  the cutting out of the netting, that I compltely forgot about, is what I was able to accomplish last night. Hopefully after all my chores more tonight! I am already straying away from the pattern. I just don't like some of the steps... okay truth is I am not completely understanding them so I don't like them so I am not using them. *grin*

Progress on the skirt has been slow. I just can't shake a tummy bug. I was able to cut out all the fabric last night. Lining, petticoat and all. The furtherest I got today was to rethread the sewing machine. While I was doing that I was sidetracked with cleaning out the bobbin case area. I guess that isn't to bad of a thing to be side tracked by.

Steampunk is back on track! I was able to find some lining for $2.50 a yard. There was some otherstuff that was a bit thicker, which might of been nicer and was probably cotton, but it was 2.40 more a yard. When you need 10 yards and are lacking funds that 2.40 more a yard is just to much. So I have a medium weight poly. I took a picture of all the materials, pretty and together.  The blue is my breadspread so its not in the color combo. The black in the bottom left corner is the lining. Top left is the knit tulle I am using in the petticoat. It has a little flower pattern that I couldn't resist. I twas the same price as the plain one so why not! The velvet ribbon will be used as trim on the skirt and possibly the apron. The lovely burgandy color is from Avien. I absolutely love this fabric because it has different hues in folds and shadows. Yummy. Perfect for the skirt. I also put the pattern in the picture that I am going to use. I am not making the bodice of the dress but using the skirt pattern because it is great for this costume. Under it all is the grey wool I am using in the apron. I think it will be lots of fun! Add some cord to make my own piping some biding tape and thread and we have a project!
I am sooo coping Avien ( http://www.starfyreenchantment.com/DC07/979.html )  with this project but its her fault! She shouldn't have choosen my favorite colors. *grin*

I ran into my first snag today with the Steampunk costume. Funds are sort of tight with Christmas just past, saving for Costume Con, and being a full time student without a job. I am sure everyone feels some of the same finacial strains this time of year. I had thought I would have all the required fabric for this project so it would be okay, and for the most part I do. Except for lining for the skirt and the petticoat fabric. I tried searching my stash but I just don't have the 10 yards needed for the lining and petticoat. So after figuring out all the bills for this month, I had an extra $50.00 or so. GREAT! Right? I can so get myself some netting and fabric with that. Fabric is sort of expensive here but I am sure I can find some lining fabric for 3 something a yard. Lee Lee is happy once more and the Steampunk costume is back on track. Hubby and I go out to start our chores and paying of bills. We stop at the shopette for some water. Car doesn't start... Just plain out won't start. Several hours later we find out we need a new battery. So my car has a new battery... but my extra bit of fundage is gone. DANGIT. Hubby told me to wait until bills are paid, we didn't get to them today, and whatever extra Yen I have I can use. So I am hoping our water or gas bill is lower this month so I can sqeak out 10 yards of fabric somehow.

I started gathering my supplies for sewing today. I put Deedee back into her Renaissance chemise. I need to start dressing her for the Autumn dress again. I collected all parts and pieces of that costume in preperation for the embroidery. That is on hold with Avien, which I hope she doesn't think I am trying to rush her. (I am not I sware!) It's actually a good thing I couldn't find a few of the pieces at first. Almost an hour and a half later after the room is in complete disarray I find the other sleeve piece lying nicely on the top of my drawers. *grrrr* Another half hour search and I was able to find the Steampunk skirt fabric that Avien had sent me. It was in the first bin I searched that I was positive I had placed it in. It was just hiding near the bottom. I didn't look that far down thinking it was closer to the top. Another *grrrrrr* But now my sewing room is pretty and bit and pieces that were out are now put away. I am washing the fabric. Avien might have already but its better to be safe the sorry. I decided the steampunk outfit would be a great outfit to start on. When the embroidery arrives I will either be done with the steampunk outfit which would be nice or I can put it aside and work on it again later. It would be an easy project to set aside. Another good thing about that project is even if I lose weight the only real adjustments will be in the waist. That is a GREAT thing. I am weary to start on the corset outfits.

I know I am posting alot today. This is the last one I promise. Just wanted to get my sewing list up.

I am trying to put Chris' costue before the Autumn dress so he can wear it for Halloween. I was going to make a poodle skirt for myself.... but the call of the Steampunk apron/outfit is starting to become hard to resist.... It would make a good Halloween costume. And it would be another costume I could wear to Costume Con.  Avien sort of convinced me when she said if I made it we could both wear ours to Costume Con..... Will have to talk to hubby to make sure he doesn't mind the possible need for more fabrics..... or... I could start going through my stash now and see if I have any that would work out.... that way when I ask him I can say I have these I only need these.... More pondering....

I finsihed the paper that is due tomorrow earlier today so I have been sewing away. My list of things to do is slowly but surely getting more things crossed out then not crossed out. I finished up one set of the rusty orange colored pieces of sleeves now I just need to start the other sleeves pieces. Then I can have a massive iron-a-thon and make them look more like strips and not orange and white, ( I used white for my lining) snakes. Suprisingly Kit has not been in any why interested.
CADD is rearing its evil head.  [profile] aviendiora's steampunk apron and the other ones I had seen from Costume College pics make me want one. I am not so sure if I want the apron or just a skirt that has the same shape, drape, etc... With all sorts of hardware attached... No it would probably have to be the apron.... They just look sooooooo cool.  I want one! But I really can't. Not right now anyway. I only have 7ish months left until Costume Con and have none of the costumes on my to do list finished. Can't add anymore until I have more done then not done. Though Avien did finish hers in what... 1-2 weeks.... BAH!!!!!!!!! I need to get back to making orange and white snakes.
